Sydney Cakery chooses only the freshest ingredients for our creations that are handmade and baked fresh to order. Our baked goods are moist and extraordinarily good. We take the time to make sure your order is exactly what you wish for. Our aim is to provide you with warm, down-to-earth Southern American hospitality and stand by the quality and taste of our baked goods.

What are your opening hours?

You can order online 24 x 7 for pickup of delivery, but if you’d like to stop by we are open to the public on the following days/times:

Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4pm
Saturday 8:30am to 1pm
Closed Sundays & Public Holidays

What Delivery and Pickup options are available?

We offer the following options:

  • Pickup in store – collect your order from our shop in Surry Hills during our business hours
  • Deliver to door – This option alows you to schedule a delivery to your door within a 2 hour* window.
  • Deliver to Curb – This option allows you to schedule your delivery to the curb within a 2 hour* window.
  • Comming Soon – Cake Hero – with this option you can book the delivery using the Cake Hero Service.

*While we will do everthing  possible to deliver within your chosen 2 hour window, we use a 3rd party service for delivery and sometimes circumstances outside our control may result in delays.

How far in advance should I order?

As we make our product fresh to order, for online orders we require at least 2 working days advance notice. However if you require something sooner Contact Us to see if we are able to accomodate your requirments.

What if I want to return an item?

Our hope is that you never need to use this policy, but we know that mistakes can happen.  If you are unhappy with any of our products for any reason, simply return the original to us and tell us what’s wrong, we’ll give you a consultation with one of our bakers. They’ll find out exactly what has occurred, so it doesn’t happen again! We will happily replace the item or provide you with a store credit if a replacement is not possible or unwanted.  It’s that simple. No fine print. We want to do everything we can to make the situation right.

What if I need to cancel my item?

For cancellations on any order, we require at least 24 hours* notice prior to the pickup or delivery date. Cancellations made after this will be given a store credit to use on your next order.

For all refunds, you will need to visit our retail store with your receipt. For refunds on a credit card,  please bring proof of ID and the physical credit card.

*Custom cake orders and all wedding cake orders must be cancelled 7 days prior to the date of your event. A $50 cancellation fee applies to any cancellations made less than 7 days.


How do I keep it fresh?

Sydney Cakery can provide “best served” advice before you leave the shop. 

Cold cake can taste stale. Generally speaking (and depending on the type of item) cake tastes the best when it’s at room temperature.  This can be accomplished by removing it from the refrigerator at least one to two hours prior to serving. 

If you have leftover cake and want to keep it for a longer time you can freeze it after tightly wrapping in plastic and covering in an airtight container for up to three weeks. However, if you expect to eat it within a few days, simply keep the cake in an airtight container in the fridge.

Can you accommodate my dietary concerns?

In most cases, yes. Drop us a line and let us know exactly what they are. We’ll be happy to consult with you on any of your dietary concerns. We offer gluten free, dairy free and vegan choices.  


How much cake should I order?

As a guide, our standard 3-layer cake will be enough to give 30 guests a small tea sized serving to have with coffee. If you plan to serve the cake for dessert then the same size cake would enable you to serve 16 to 20 guests. Check out our serving guide to provide more details.    

What types of payments do you accept?

Payment can be made by credit card, cash, direct deposit to Sydney Cakery’s bank account or PayPal. If you are ordering a specialty cake, then a 50% deposit of the agreed price will be due before commencing the cake and final payment must be made 7 days prior to your event.
